K'Naan Warsame is a hip hop artist, poet and writer. K'Naan means traveller in Somali and he hails from Mogadishu (Hawiye clan). He was influenced by the hip hop records his father sent him as a child and began rapping once he had a good command of English.
He now lives in Ontario, Canada in the midst of a large Somali community. He is seen as one of Africa's best rappers and has been praised for his conscious lyrics.
