One of the biggest musicians in Francophone Africa now is Molare (real name Moïse Moriféré Soumahoro). He's popular for his track called On Est Ensemble with Mali's Mokobe. He's also a DJ and a former member of the famous Ivorian group, La Jet Set together with Coupe Decale legend, Douk Saga. Have you realised that most of the Coupe Decale stars are deejays? Apart from Molare, there is DJ Alex Funk, DJ Caloudji (Alhaji man), DJ Arafat, DJ Christy B, DJ Jeff, DJ Tony, DJ Erickson, etc. The trend is continuing in South Africa where a lot of deejays have started releasing solo and compilation albums and are ruling airwaves. Examples there are DJ Sbu, DJ Bojo Mujo, DJ Bongz, DJ Cleo, DJ Mbuso T, etc.

Molare is one of the artistes credited with the emergence of the popular African dance genre called Coupé-décalé. Coupé-décalé means cut-shift. See a previous blog about Coupé-décalé. Apart from the DJs, some other major artistes are Bobo Sangui, Lino Versace, Solo Béton, etc. Molare was part of the famous La Jet Set group which featured Douk Saga, Lino Versace, Borossangui, Solo Beton, the least known are Serges Falley, Abou Bamba and Lasse of the Aces, as well. There was talk of some arguments between the two main forerunners but Molare denied this in an interview.
The name Molare was given to him by another popular Ivorien musician called DJ Jacob. He's also a businessman involved in various disciplines like animal husbandry, telecommunications, furniture, production artists, organizing events and soon in the distribution of artistic works.
