Stella Aba Ahenewa Seal is a gospel musician from Ghana. She was formerly known as Stella Dugan from her previous marriage. She now has three kids, Ruth, Michael, and Seth.
Stella is the second of four siblings and was born to Madam Violet Addo from Anum Boso in the Eastern Region and Mr Theophilus Seal, (deceased) who was half British and half Camerounian. She started her primary education at the New Town 4 School and continued at the Kotobabi 2 Middle School.
She trained as a secretary at the Accra Polytechnic after her GCE ‘O’ level in 1981 at the City Secondary and Business College at Caprice in Accra, which she used four years to complete. She was a school prefect there and that is where she got saved. She enrolled in a dressmaking school known as Kalbs. She later ended going to the Ghana Airways Training School where she passed out with AITA’s Basic Certificate in passenger handling, sales and reservation. She grew up wanting to be a nurse.
She sang in a church, Ghana Evangelical Society (GES), in Accra for five years before she joined the Christian Action Faith Ministries (CAFM) for another five years. Then, she decided to record an album. Her first album was called You’re In My Heart and was released in 1990. It didn't do well, she believed it was because the whole album was in English.
Her sophomore effort was in 1991 and called Daadaa Nyinaa ra. This was a success and garnered her a lot of awards. Her other albums include Ahenmanmu, Okura Yeemu, Ontonko, Oye Onyame, Okyeso Nyame, etc
She was involved in the Gospel All-Stars compilation in 2001 (produced by John Mensah Sarpong - JMS) which had hit songs like W'aseda nie, Hye me animuonyam, Ensuro, Adom, etc. The project featured Stella, Sarpong McAbraham, Nana Yaw Asare, Rev. Kusi Berko, Amy Newman, Dorcas Appiah, Rev. Yaw Agyemang Benjaman, and Rev. Mensah Bonsu.
Some of her hit songs include Gye me Taataa, Yede aseda, King of Kings, Ebenzer, Ayeyi nyom, Wo nkyen, Obe ye, Som Awurade, Pentecost Gya, etc
