A. B. Crentsil is one of the evergreen highlife artistes of Ghana. He grew up playing the guitar, While working as an electrician in his youth, he also performed with the Strollers Band owned by one Kwesi Donkor. AB has played with the El Dorado's, Sweet Talks and then finally the Ahenfo Band.

He emerged on the Ghanaian music scene in the 1960's, playing with the El Dorado's Sweet Talks and the Ahenfo band which helped make guitar highlife more popular. He was one of Ghana's most popular musicians in the 1970's with Sweet Talks working with other great vocalists like Jewel Ackah and Pat Thomas. Sweet Talks disbanded under military rule in 1978 but Crentsil achieved new successes with the Ahenfo band.

He also carved a niche as a controversial artiste as his song, Moses (deep deep deep lyrics), was banned from the airwaves.

He continues to perform widely at various events across the world. He has collaborated with Obour on a music project (album) dubbed 'Best of the Lifes' to coincide with Ghana's 50th anniversary of independence, celebrating highlife and hiplife and reuniting the beginnings of contemporary Ghanaian music with the present.

Some of his hits include Adam and Eve, Moses, Our Father, Juliana, Adwoa, I don't know why, Kafo Mpo Dzidzi, Memba bio, I go pay tomorrow, Pe adwuma ye, Aboa onidua, etc.
