Intro (Derek Diggs)
Ghana.
My grandmother, my mother, my one and my only.
How you doing?
It's about time that we as your children stepped up
And showed you how much we love, care and appreciate you
And it goes something like this.

Chorus (Derek Diggs)
This is my Letter to Ghana
I don't want no more drama
I think that if we get together, and join hands
And make one stand, we're gonna be okay

Verse 1 (Nana Kwabena)
As I sit back and write this Letter to Ghana
I start it off with "Dear Mama," then a comma
It's been a couple years since we last spoke
A couple years since I last wrote, I apologize
But wanna let you know that your son's doing well
And by him, you know that I'm referring to myself
Me talking like that used to make you laugh
When you taught me to be humble and be proud of my past
To walk like the first, to talk like the last
And until I collapse I thank God for that
It's been a while since I last paid a visit
But I been here in the Americas, the chaos and hysteria
The same land where the races are various
Depending on the areas, Obronis wanna bury us
And I know that you don't condone
That's why the States feels more like a foster home

Repeat Chorus

Verse 2
I know my brothers aint call in a long time
But I wanna be the first to let you know that they all doing fine
I know you mad they left you with no goodbyes
No notes, no letters, no calls, and no replies
But be patient, the story's not done
Give 'em a chance and they'll return like prodigal sons
But lately, I been hearing bout the problems
Of the neighbors and how they going thru drama
Like Sudan's fam might be going thru divorce and
How the Rwandans been giving they own abortions
I hear the Libyans is having no remorse in
The way they treated expatriates with no caution
It's crazy to see the tension in the people
What was once so peaceful now bleached by evil
This can't be the end, there's godda be a sequel
Where the end of the story is more like the prequel

Repeat Chorus

Verse 3
I hear Asante and Fante are still rivals
And Dagbani's merely trying to fight for survival
And the landlords smuggle coke thru your building
Right in the face of our children, it's crazy
Money making off of exploitation
But we don't have enough to get free education
Can you imagine controlling our resources
Be clear, that's something Mr. DeBeers would fear
Look how he did Sierra Leone
Stole her diamonds and gave it to his wife and kids
Now his business is lucrative
Stole from our treasure box and gave it to the rest of the world
But on a lighter note, I know your birthday's coming up
Years adding up, you almost fifty
I'm so glad you came back to your senses on March 06, 1957
Ghana, my grandmother, who gave life to my mother
Who in turn gave life to my brothers
And even if we shared sisters with different fathers
Or same mothers, either way you still loved us
Unified by God above us, but look at how we act
At least some of us who lack knowledge of where we come from
Who lost a little heritage and strayed from the culture
Trying to be from not where we're supposed to
I know you trying to bring us all back just a lil' closer
But I don't understand how they can wanna be American
When they was born as an African
Blood's thicker than water, we of the same skin
But why they try to deny that we of the same kin, it's crazy
Now you see the backwards thinking
You see the quicksand where they trapped and sinking
You seeing all the false teaching, skin bleaching
This type of doctrine is in need of impeaching
There's a kum tree that grows in Kumasi
That'll never die and I'm sure you know why
It was put there for a reason
Bound to grow, whatever the weathering of the season
You we're set free with the help of Nkrumah
But the struggle for liberation ɛnyɛ over
Unify this household, unify kurom ha
Back to the root of the fruit, Sankofa
Yeah, but these are just my thoughts that you're reading
But I'm thinking that its time for a family meeting
Family consists of all the people
That criticize you the hardest but love you regardless
So on that note, I want you to know I love ya
Til we meet again, Sincerely, Nana Kwabena

Bridge (Derek Diggs)
See I don't know what is wrong with our people
If we opened our minds, we would be so much more free
We need to stand up and fight the fight
Let's join hands, let's join hands

Repeat Chorus

Wow, this is a great song.
I like Nana's flow and Derek can sing pretty well

Let's all make one stand on the wake of this golden jubilee and I am sure Ghana would be okay.
Big ups to Nana Kwabena and Derek Diggs.

Yea, I love this song a lot too. This is the kind of music I put on repeat non-stop, tautology eh? :-)
Anyway, the song is uploaded now. Enjoy the rhythms and take in the music.
I love the CC part, quite important.

I like the song the lyrics are on point! It's so true, how tribalism is still going on Ghana, for goodness sake, it is the 21st century, these things must stop!
We don't need no drama at all!
