Wow, I have been searching for vulindela lyrics. I love this song and I love you guys more for giving me the lyrics.

brenda fassie is fondly remembered by her fans. it's sad death had to come and take her so early. i hope there are some unreleased songs of hers that we can hear in the future

I believe there have been several album releases after her death,of her previously-unreleased songs, including a gospel cd as well. I haven't had a chance to get my grip on them yet, but I know they are faya.

Her son is doing a good job of managing her sales, and I believe a portion of them goes to charity, cos we all know about these record-company-mongers.

hehe, I'm glad you feel so strongly about the song, although there isnt really a "deep" message to it (well, I guess there's a deeper meaning to everything if you look at it the right way). Summary: Brenda is telling the gossipers of the village to 'open the gates'(Vulindlela) and not to be jealous of his son who is getting married to a beautiful woman. (such as...u know, someone like myself)

Another information apparently hard to find is the language Brenda Fassie speaks. It sounds very expressive. That is probably one of the reasons (among obvious others, like her voice and charisma) why such song, with no apparent deep meaning as noted before, sounds so deep to anyone arround the world. This music, (and not only this one), is a true fenomenon arround the world.

Can you Patricia, or anyone out there, share that information with the rest of us. As far as I could find out there are more than 10 idioms/dialects in South Africa.

Yes, Zulu is one of my favorite languages (After SiSwati of course). Its so rich and melodious. But I think I like Xhosa more. Any woman will tell you when a man starts speaking Xhosa to her, even if he is Osama Bin Laden, her heart will melt completely. Xhosa is the rockas!

There's 11 official languages in South Africa, I can only speak a few of them. :-( But Im sure this is a far cry from the number of languages in say, Nigeria, or something. Hehehe. Although like only 3 people will speak about 15 of them. hehe!

Tholamadlozi is a song about ancestors, its a tribal ancestral praise song. No real direct meaning to it beyond that, but I am also not traditionally Zulu so someone may be able to help both of us out. Hehe.

Just to let you know:

Here's a Dutch family visiting Gambia regularly, we heard the music there and were looking for the lyrics as well as it's meaning, everyone who heard it all love the song (which we called 'wooly' until now...). I found out it had to be South-African, but didn't know what language and didn't have a clue where or who to ask. Well....to cut a long story short: here's my thank you note.

So...vuli'ndela means gossip or gossipers? I looked at Google Earth and found a vulindela elementary school and a police station with that name...

One of the other commentors was right: you've made yourself immortal. Although I don't know if Swazibella a real name is.......Must be South-African too!?!
