Kabelo Mabalane aka Bouga Luv is a Kwaito artiste from South Africa. He is an original member of TKZee (with Tokollo Tshabalala, and Zwai Bala)
TKZee is most famous for their pre-France 1998 World Cup song, Shibobo, which was done with Banana Banana's Benni McCarthy. The single became the fastest selling record in SA's music history with sales reaching more than 100 000 in just over a month. They released albums, Take it eezy, Halloween, Palafala and Trinity. Trinity, released in 2001, saw the end of TKZee.
Kabelo went solo in 2002 with his first single Pantsula and has enjoyed a lot of success, garnering SAMA awards, etc. He owns an independent record label (Groove Luv records) and also signed a three-year contract with Reebok that saw the release of his own line of Reebok footwear.
Some of his hit songs include Love me or leave me alone, Nomayini (Ready for whatever), Play that song, Soya Jola, High I go, Jiva Soweto, Zonke, Pantsula for life, Sangena Sangena, and The world is mine.

High I go

why kabelo is not singing pure gospel ,transition is important when you are born again , so i don't understand him - being a hustler is something else .This is a disgrace to gospel
I didn't know Kabelo was born again. What is actually a hustler about him because I don't know him like that or maybe I don't know him at all.
High I go is an excellent gospel song anyway, reminds me of Kirk Franklin in some ways. Seems he has some other nice socially conscious songs that have been getting great airplay.
Yes, Kabelo announced he was born again after his drugs fiasco in the past years. As for his music...what do you define as "pure gospel"? I personally have seen the change in his lyrics from the time he was with TKZee. His mission is clear...he sings about the things that matter most to him, Christ included. I think he is reaching a wide audience and touching hearts from church to ghetto, therefore I don't think it is right to judge him as being a disgrace to gospel when all we listen to in his albums is motivational and, like Chale said, socially conscious.
If you want a disgrace to gospel, please be in touch with R Kelly. :-). Even still, we shouldn't judge anyone for making a gospel track without a "complete transition", Christianity is personal, and you may never know what drives the person.
Kabelo has been nominated as Africa's best musician at the Music of Black Origin awards in the UK. Vote for him here
I personally think kabelo is one of the best artist to
have come out of south africa, let alone has also took kwaito on the world stage thus for some people to sound
negative about our artist sounds a bit daft if not ignorant
to recognise true talent which is another product from the ghetto, as for being born~again its between him and God who isn't judgemental so certainly kabelo doesn't have to impress some people but all people.
kabelo needs more info about him on the net. We're looking out for him in Kenya
Most of these African artists need to have *regularly* updated websites jamani. To give everyone a heads up on news, what they r up to, where they r performing, etc.
hehe...and Im sure KB would love to know hes being looked out for a la Kenyata! :-)
I was in Rhema Church once or twice when Kabelo was performing, to me he sang from his heart. it is amazing how God can change your heart when you give your life unto Him. From drugs to pulpit. and by the way i hear he is also attending the Bible College.
A lot of times, people who find Christ after they have been really down (drugs, depression, etc) go all out and are even more religious than those who may have been worshipping God their whole lives.
Nice to see Kabelo is dedicated to God's work and using his status to positively influence many people.
I also agree about the need for websites. Till most African musicians are in the position to have strong online presences for themselves, the fans can help.
Kabelo is back peoples
