Meet Jeff Bogologobo, the Alhaji man, who hails from Cote d'Ivoire and like Magic System before them, is poised to conquer Anglophone West Africa from some fresh sound.
'Alhaji' is 2007's version of King Ayisoba's I want to see you my father. It is loved by many as the video below shows. The kids are singing along and the old folks are getting down to it.

So the funny thing about Jeff Bogologobo is that there is not much information about him online about his Ivory Coast beginnings or his previous albums. On the real though, if no one knows where Alhaji or Jeff Bogologobo came from, how did he get airplay? Is this a poster-child song of 'payola'? Is this a Macarena in the offing? Is this the African A bay bay or Ella ella ay ay ay? It is, because the song didn't seem to stay around radio airplay too long, and once the hype dies down, it will be a flash in the pan. Maybe, but the Alhaji craze could be staying with us for a long time.
