    Loyiso Bala

Loyiso Bala is an R&B star from South Africa. He started singing from a tender age of 7, when he first recorded a song with Sizwe Zakho, Rebecca Malope's producer, called "Mama come back". His brother Zwai, former member of Kwaito Group TKZee was then a part of the prestigious Drakensberg Boys' Choir. Loyiso followed his brother's path and joined this choir, making them one of the first few black South African faces in the choir. They were both with Drakensberg for 6 years before they decided to pursue other musical projects. Zwai formed TKZee with other high school friends in 1996 and became and instant hit among South African youth. Loyiso continued to record R&B songs for various South African compilations, as well as occasionally featuring in TKZee hit songs. He recorded "Girl without a name" for the TKZee family album in 2000, which won them many awards and gave him incentive to record his own R&B album.

Upon completion of his music degree from the University of South Africa in Pretoria, he recorded his first album "Wine, Women and Song" in 2002, and later "Amplified" in 2004. Both awards won him R&B awards from the South African Music Awards.

Says Loyiso to Skeelo SA : "Music is serious business; its success can only be measured by hard work. People should try their best. Young people shouldn't rely on their parents' wealth but rather go out there and prove their worth."

Some of his songs include Maybe, Ngiyakuthanda, Dali wami, Step to the throne, Freak you, Blow your mind, etc

Check out this video by the Bala trio. Do singing genes run in the family or what?!
Nice to see Zwai (of TKZee fame) come back into the music industry. They have a different style, pro'lly reminiscent of the Drakensberg Boys' Choir days? Still,I love this song. So beautiful.
