Museke African music lyrics musicians songs interview chit-chat

Information on African music

Hi!

I'm a Norwegian who is very interested in getting to know about music from different African countries. I listen to singers like Ismael Lo, Angelique Kidjo, 2Face Idibia, Michael Ross Kakooza, Abby Surya, Nayanka Bell and so on...
I would need more info on different up and coming singers from the different countries.
Anyone interested in giving me some help and information?
Writing e-mails, chatting on msn or something?

Hope to hear from someone!

Best Wishes

You know, I don't even know much about Ismael Lo, Michael Ross Kakooza, Abby Surya, or Nayanka Bell, so maybe you can help myself and others with more information on these artistes.

We have some Angelique Kidjo, 2Face Idibia content on Museke.com, check them out.

I have noted your email address and will contact you. For info on various upcoming musicians, you can pay attention to our song lyrics (check by year) to see who's coming out when and who's new. We'll keep you posted through the blogs and our news aggregator would keep u informed. There are many African music sites out there and if you let me know what specific info you want, I can direct you.

Also check out our playlists here for some great African music.

..are lekker and I love them. Ismael Lo is an artiste from Senegal, his info is widely available on the net too. And his tracks are available on iTunes. My favorite song by him is "Jalia", I did a performance to it once. :-)
Michael Ross is a cute RnB musician from Uganda, Lyrics to "Love Somebody" will be on museke soonest :-)

Many many old and upcoming artists featured on the site, I suggest you get a pillow and Mango juice and have a field day! (As I am currently doing hehe)

On another note -- Have you been to Flekke? hehe

Thanks for your answer!
It would be great to write more with you and share some information.

Nayanka Bell is a singer from Cameroon and Abby Surya is from DR Congo.
I like especially Abby Surya very much - she has a great song called "Bokila".

Those playlists are very interesting as there are many singers I never heard about there. I don't know much about music from Swaziland, Botswana, Zambia, Nigeria, Togo, Rwanda, Burundi, Djibouti, Benin, Tchad, Angola and so on. Names of popular singers from those countries would be really interesting!
I know more about Mali, DR Congo, Ghana, Uganda, Senegal, South Africa... As those singers easier get known here in Europe.

I think both Micael Ross and Ismael Lo are wonderful singers.
Any idea if Michael Ross has released any CD?

No, I haven't been to Flekke... :-)

thanks for the info. will check up on Abby a lil later.

There's a Nayanka Bell that's pretty popular. It's known in Ghana as Ziiibote and this musician Nananom Sidney used the chorus for this song "U go say".

Concerning the popular singers, more info will be coming soon. Check out some of the musicians from Togo at this link. There are a lot of Angolan musicians popular these days, you can find some on countless MTVBase Africa charts and at this kizomba link too.

Me I wonder what makes those singers you mentioned get known easier in Europe? Record companies, links, more citizens of those countries there?

Michael Ross was nominated music awards recently, seems he's doing quite well

I think they get known because of the record companies + that they have deals with French distributors some of them. Also they are more known as "world music" rather than pop.

By the way, anyone know if there are shops on the internet which sell music from Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, Nigeria, Tchad, Swaziland, Benin, Togo, Angola and so on... I would be very interested in buying new music from these countries.
