HHP to feature Amerie in new video - MTVBase Initiative

Hip Hop PantsulaJohannesburg, 5 November 2007: South African hip-hop artist Hip Hop Pantsula (HHP) has been selected to have a brand new music video shot by internationally acclaimed music video director Nick Quested, with a special cameo appearance by US R&B diva and double-Grammy Award nominee, Amerie.

The video, for HHP’s track, will be shot in Johannesburg this week by Quested as part of the MTV Making the Video with Shell initiative. Quested, who has made nearly 100 music videos for A-list stars such as P. Diddy, Nas, Common, Sting and Brandy, will be assisted on the shoot by South African video directors participating in the MTV Making the Video with Shell video workshop, which takes place in Johannesburg from 5 November.

Sony BMG signing Amerie, who received two Grammy nominations in 2006 for Female R&B Vocal Performance and Best Contemporary R&B Album, is best know for upbeat R&B tracks such as breakthrough hit ‘Why Don't We Fall in Love?’ to more recent chart successes such as ‘Take, ‘Gotta Work’, ‘1 Thing’ and ‘Touch’.
HHP was selected after thousands of South African music fans SMS-ed the names of their favourite artists name to MTV base. Music N Lights comes from his brand new album ‘Acceptance Speech’ and follows the chart topping success of his previous albums ‘O Mang’, ‘Mang Reloaded’ and ‘YBA 2NY’.

Commented HHP: ‘Nick Quested has worked with so many of my idols so it’s a fantastic opportunity to work with him to realise my vision! And the chance to have a star like Amerie appear in one of my videos is just a dream come true!’
The new video for HHP and featuring Amerie will air for the first time on MTV base (DStv Channel 322) as part of MTV Making the Video with Shell – South Africa, premiering across Africa on 7 December.

Hip Hop Pantsula was nominated for the best African Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards.

Good for him! He's loved, and he's reaping the benefits. Why did they choose Amerie? She's nothing special jo, but im not hating. She's big. I guess. :-) Hehe...
Why hasnt DSTv enlarged its tents and territories to reach me? I miss home!

And that Jabba Vid is lekkerostic! His vids are quite good already, looking forward to seeing the new one. :)

So guys, no hate from my end- even tho i steady sip on haterade all day...moving along. the wrap party was on friday and Amerie and HHP were on stage- lookout for my video of HHP mackin on Amerie- dude killed it tho. It's really great to see that South Africans didn't pay R150 to get into the club to see Amerie perform but for their boy HHP!!!
No one was really excited with Amerie- til JABBA joined her on stage. Ahhhhhhh but the girl cannot sing. Sometimes being a pretty face helps ne?The party was friggin amazing in true MTV BASE AFRICA style-even tho the tab kinda closed when people started getting excited about free liq.

She's a sorry excuse of a singer, but we shall not go there. Me I still want to know why she was chosen to feature with HHP, because we all know...there is zero compatibility there :-P
R150? Mxxm, The things I can do with that money instead of watching a pretty girl scream the 2 songs she owns. For one, I could go to the nearest musica and buy BOTH malaika and Ntando's latest! And get a marriage proposal while Im at it (Those Musica boys...) Anyhow, when is the HHP vid featuring Amerie coming out?

lol concerning Amerie.
yet another party i was not invited to - rock on MTVBase.

Was Amerie touring South Africa though or did she go to shoot some of her own videos? Maybe she'll feature HHP in her own video, that would be hot.
Seems she's touring though, was in Angola too performing at the Miami Beach show house, in Luanda, as part of the celebrations of the 32nd anniversary of the country's independence, November 11.

SOUTH AFRICANS SHOULD LEARN HOW TO APPRICIATE MUSIC FOR WHAT IT IS AND ENJOY THE OUTPUT.AS FOR HOW ITS MADE AND WHOSE DOIN IT, THAT DOESNT MATTER WHAT MATTERS IS THAT MUSIC IS A BUSINESS AND LETS NOT DISCRIMINATE AGAINST THE JOURNEY OF PROFITABILITY, LETS RATHER FOCUS ON INCREASING THE NUMBER OF SHAREHOLDERS BY PURCHASING ORIGINAL COPIES OF SHARES (CDs). SOUTH AFRICAN HIP HOP IS SLOWLY GROWING AND JABBA HAS GIVEN IT A BOOST. LETS HOPE THAT WE'LL SEE UNSIGNED ARTISTS LIKE "DETOX ND BULLET" COLLABORATING WITH INTERNATIONAL ARTISTS. GOOD MARKETING SKILLS JABBA KEEP IT UP!!!!
