Lira’s music is a masterpiece of art. Armed with an incredulously soulful voice, she blissfully touches and heals the broken souls.
Tracks like Feel Good, Ngiyakufela and Feel It In Me deeply express hope, strength and passion. Blended with Afro-jazz, R&B, as well as Latin American rhythms, the music as whole still retains the authentic African roots.
She also reminds me of the heydays of British songbird, Sade, dating back to the early 1980s. It was an honor to me to meet her at the promotion of her album, Feel Good, at Carlton Center, Johannesburg. I bought the album, got her autographs on the album sleeve and poster. She is such a friendly soul who really loves people.

Sade is Nigerian though. But yeah, am feeling the Afro-Jazz from South Africa - Lira and Zamajobe are really good and are as good as the others out there.

Lira's hit song, Feel good, has been reworked and chosen for the official soundtrack of the US series, Girlfriends.

The show is also being screened on SABC1 every Friday evening at 20:30 local time.

The Girlfriends Soundtrack album features some of the world’s biggest female stars including 9 Grammy Nominated Artists including the likes of Amy Winehouse, Mary J Blige, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, India Irie, Chaka Khan, Angie Stone, Chrisette Michele and Corinne Bailey Rae. Not bad company to be in for the South African singer.
