Beyonce - The President's Daughter is probably the biggest movie out of Africa in the last year. The Ghanaian movie (produced by Venus Films) rode the distribution channels of Nollywood and the stardom of Nadia Buari, Van Vicker and Jackie Appiah to international fame. The movie is popular all over Africa as well as in the African Diaspora. 'Save my soul' is the name of the original soundtrack for the movie. The lyrics and video are below.

Van Vicker who played Raj in the movie has become very famous on the back of this cinema hit. The reception that greeted him on his tour of the USA was great and he is poised to land bigger roles. Nadia Buari (daughter of ace Ghanaian musician) played the Beyonce character in the movie. She was recently honoured as 'Best Actress from Ghana' at the 5 Continents Annual Academy Awards ceremony in New York. The awards ceremony was at the Marriott Hotel and organized by the Haitian community. Jackie Appiah (Ciara) has been winning awards as well and is the face of IPMC Ghana.
'Beyonce' is the story of Beyonce, who is the president's daughter (Ghana). She lives in wealth and enjoys a lot of power. She falls in love with Raj who already has a girlfriend called Ciara. Bent on winning his heart, Beyonce showers Raj with lots of love and uses her influence to get Ciara beat up and ultimately Ciara's face becomes disfigured. In a bid to save her life (soul), Ciara is pronounced dead and she escapes out of the country.
In the sequel, 'Return of Beyonce', Ciara returns to Ghana with a facial makeover. Beyonce is shot on her wedding day (with Raj) and loses some of her memory. Raj eventually discovers Ciara. Eventually, Raj is convicted of killing the psychologist hired by the president to care for her daughter. It may seem like I've given the movie away but you should really watch the movie, the drama alone would keep you coming back for more. The video and audio quality is great and the story is good too. The movie also features Kalsum Sinare, Fritz Baffour, Dan Tei Mensah and Ziggy Netteyson.
How this popular movie was named Beyonce and her rival being called Ciara beats me, they couldn't get more common names? The other big question here is - who sang the song, 'Save my soul'? Where are her other singles and albums? :-)

To Chale: I don't know much about her other than she tends to sing often in Ghanaian films. A great singer indeed. If you watch movies like "In the Eyes of My Husband" and "Darkness of Sorrow", her voice can be heard through and through. Erowele is a beautiful singer indeed. She sings from deep within, yet she doesn't bellow like some female artists so I guess that is why she sounds so interesting.
Yea, she sings very well, I always wondered who sang the soundtracks in those movies.

There is a new movie out which is creating a lot of buzz in Nollywood, not cuz it is good, but because of the title.
It's called (yes) - Beyonce & Rihanna.
Funny thing is, there are no characters called Beyonce or Rihanna in the movie. However, Bernice is an aspiring singer who only practices with Beyonce songs and her competitor Rhyme uses Rihanna tracks. Nadia Buari who played Beyonce in Beyonce is Bernice while Omotola aka Omosexy is Rhyme. Of course, there is a Jay (z) in the movei played by Jim Iyke.

They deal with real life situation and teaches me many leason.
Beyonce was a excellent movie.i watched it over and over again
