    Fauz Bashir

Faizel MC was born Fauz Bashir to a Ugandan mother and a Tanzanian father in Kenya. He lived in Uganda all his life where he studied his primary and secondary schools till he moved to Namibia.

Faizel MC started his music career at the age of 13 in 1995 where he performed at schools and was engaged in acting as well. In 1997, the superstar released a song called CHUNGA MACHO, which was not a success and then decided to continue with his studies. He later moved to Mombassa on the coast of Kenya and continued to perform at the bamburi beach singing with a reggae group.

The star got his big break when he met with the OGOPA DJS in Nairobi in 1998 and did a song called SENORITA which got some air play on most Kenyan radio stations including E.A radio and TV station in Dar.

After losing his father, Faizel decided to move to Namibia and join his uncle. He introduced SENORITA to Namibia in 1999 and has never looked back. SENORITA was well received by Namibians and through the hit he was introduced to well established artists such as GAL LEVEL, THE DOGG, SUNNY BOY, GAZZA, RASHEHAMA and many others.

He started up a group called DUNGEON FAMILY which was to help bring up the young and up coming talent in Namibia.

Faizel's debut album entitled “DAYZ GO BY” was made in collaboration with artists such as the DOGG, GAL LEVEL, and SUNNY BOY. It was a 16 track album which included SENORITA, CHUNGA MACHO, BEST OF BOTH WORLDS, KATA, and CUM GET UR LOVE, which automatically became hits and Faizel had a sell out after his launch in April 2005. These sounds have been played on Africa’s finest Music CHANNEL O.

In April 2006, he released another album entitled “MOTO”, with HIT songs KAMATA, MAMA featuring GAL LEVEL, MOTO, and others, which are still rocking the Namibian Nation and have led him to neighboring countries like ANGOLA, BOTSWANA, ZAMBIA, ZIMBABWE, and SOUTH AFRICA.

Faizel MC is now known as one of the most prominent and well established musicians holding the Namibian audience's attention and is respected for having been the first artist in Namibia to feature on Channel O, and travel abroad on tours. He is also famed for being the creator of a Namibian local program on TV and radio.

Faizel was first signed to a record label called BUTTERFLY ENTERTAINMENT, after which he moved to PJ MUSIC, who deals and distributes for Sony BMG. He is currently signed back to BUTTERFLY ENT which has teamed up with OGOPA DJS of Nairobi to make form OGOPA BUTTERFLY ENTERTAINMENT.

Faizel's music genre is known as AFROBEAT DANCE HALL, which is a mixture of kwassa, house, kwaito (which is well-known in South Africa) and Dance Hall.

Faizel is currently working on his 3rd album, which he started working on while on his African tour. The album is due to be released this year, and is being produced in collaboration with OGOPA DJs, and MEDDIE of POINT BLANK solo edit.

His favorite artists are Boys II Men, R. Kelly, Bounty Killer, and Buju Bunton. He counts Nelson Mandela as his role model and his mother Jamila Bashir as his inspiration and guardian.

He has been awarded fr his great community work by organizing shows in dedication to street kids, children orphaned by H.I.V, and the less privileged as well as the fight for human and women's rights.
