Stars of the Future duo Irene and Jane split

So the juicy news making the rounds in the Ghanaian music scene is that Irene and Jane have split and are going to pursue solo careers. Right when we heard Styl-Plus had released a single celebrating their longevity, another group has fallen apart. I could see this coming though. Right when Irene featured on Richie's Frema remix, I could see trouble. And then later on Richie announced to me Irene had signed onto his Lynx Entertainment label and the news left was that from Charterhouse.

Another reason I thought this group would not last? Irene and Jane. Read it again. Irene and Jane. Basically, they are two solo acts who got convinced to join forces but probably never really did. Couldn't they have called themselves ReeJay, Soul shordies or Golden girls? I was happy to see their faces over MTN's "Go be famous" billboards in Ghana, they could have been something special. The group enjoyed a lot of airplay but I never saw a CD of theirs anywhere in Ghana and the only two songs of theirs I heard are here and here on Museke.com (you can watch the videos too).

What's next for Irene Logan and Jane Awindor? I believe they can both go on to enjoy successful music careers. Irene apparently has a single with Nigeria's Faze and a string of features with the Lynx Entertainment group. Irene and Richie have known themselves since their Achimota days. I wonder what camp Jane will be joining. I had tried to get a sit-down interview with Irene and Jane in March but the plans broke down after it was revealed Irene was out of the country and when she finally came back, I was leaving Ghana as well. We'll try and get statements from Irene and Jane concerning this.

Was there a conspiracy to award Irene and Jane the best female voice award at the recent Ghana Music Awards? Many people believed Becca should have won it and rumour has it that they were booed on stage. A S E M, asem!

Also, some of the blame for the group's demise should go to Charterhouse. They are a great productions outfit, they've done their share - Miss Malaika Ghana, Stars of the Future, etc. They are not a record label and until they are focused on dedicating time, energy and money as well as exploring the options the fledging Ghanaian music industry offers them, they should stay away from producing musicians.

I wish both girls best of luck in what they do from this point on. The journey to being famous is not done.

You obviously didn't do enough research on this piece. If you had, you would have realized that Charter House does not produce Miss Ghana, neither did it produce Life and Living It. Those are productions of Sparrow Productions.

Thanks for the correction. I confused them with Sparrow Productions, I had linked Charterhouse with Shirley Frimpong Manso.
Correction is made.
