Okyeame Kwame is one-half of famed Ghanaian rap duo, Akyeame.
He is also known as the Rap Doctor. His real name is Kwame Nsiah Appau. he was born in 1976. His father is an accountant called Kwasi Nsiah Bota and his mother is Alice Nsiah Bota. He hails from Nsuta, and has 4 brothers (Stone, Kunta Kinte inclusive) and a sister. He attended St. Joseph’s Experimental and am an old boy of Kumasi Anglican secondary school. At KASS, he was the whiz kid because he was a wizard at rapping and he was a kid.

Kwame met Daniel Kofi Amoateng in 1990 while studying after-hours at the Kumasi Polytechnic. They started rapping at street battles and anywhere they could show their talent. Kofi was a writer and had written a story book called 'Rings don’t marry’.

They decided to name themselves Akyeame by taking something from the palace. Akyeame means linguists - as rap linguists - they were going to be a link between the king and his people and interpret ideas to the people through music.
Kofi became Okyeame Quophi, and Kwame became Okyeame Kwame. They looked for producers and met Andrew Opoku Amankwah (Easylink) who was a record executive from London. He helped them record Brebre Obaahemaa in 1997. They were produced by Mark Okraku Mantey. The title track became a hit and Akyeame had arrived.

In 1999, they released Nkonsonkonson which had the hit track called Mesan aba featuring Yoggi Doggi and Nana Quame. They went on to record the Nyansapo, Ntoaso and Apam Foforo albums before splitting in 2004. They have since come together to say they are not beefing and Okyeame Kofi produced a track on his new album. They have plans of coming out with an album again in late 2008.

He has two albums, Bohye ba and M'awensem (My poetry) to his credit. Bohye ba was a massive success and featured Daasebre Dwamena. Before that, he had featured on Obrafour's Execution Diary with Opabeni. M'awensem was released in 2008 and has been enjoying great airplay as well. Okyeame Kwame became one of the most respected and sought-after hiplife artistes. The album is written in stanzas as Okyeame Kwame tries to carry his lyrical genius further.

Some of his songs include Anaa, Hello Maame, Opabeni, Ghana mmaa, Woani so anaa, Tutu, Mmre, Mate ahwe ne do mu, Odo wo owuo akyi a, Te m'ase, etc

this guy is the best rapper in Ghana now, he has taken over from Obrafour and Reggie Rockstone. Kwaw Kesse may be the king of the streets but Okyeame is the king of the mic because that is his job, his job is to speak to the people. Watch out Africa, he deserves all this and the Rap Doctor is going to rule soon

HI, I am Kennedy Kafui Kumafo but known in showbiz as kcube.Iam very talented poet who can write poems on any given issue. I currently work as a part time presenter in a radio station in Kumasi. Okyeame is a very good friend of my and has taught me a lot about poetry. No wonder his current album has been nominated in the ghana music awards. To me he is the best rapper in Africa by far.I wish you could offer me the opportunity to write a very lovely poem about your site which i think you would love very well. And i bet you is just for free. Hoping to hear from you.
