    Cecilia Wairimu

Amani is a swahili word that means peace and tranquility, the lull just before a storm. Amani was born Cecilia Wairimu.

She started singing, performing and participating in church talent searches at the tender age of six. While at primary school level, she composed songs and wrote poems. She even won some national competitions/contests in the early 90's. In high school, she formed an accapella group called Sobriety that went further to record a single on completing school at the studio then known as audio volt.

Amani went solo in 1999 and got hooked up with the famous Ogopa Deejays by Redsan. She released 'Move on' which became a radio hit. A year later, she came out with 'Tahidi' which was part of the compilation album Ogopa 1 “Kenyan Club Classics”. In 2002, she collaborated on one of East Africa's biggest hits to date, Ninanoki with Nameless (who was also with Ogopa Deejays at the time).

In 2003, Ogopa 2 came out and featured an Amani single called Papi. She collaborated on Talk to you with Big Pin and Patonee which established her as one of Kenya's major R&B artistes.

Amani resurfaced again in 2006 with a major single called 'Bad Boy' which featured Nyashinski of Kleptomaniacs fame. She released some other singles and her album Tamani was released in 2007.

Some of her songs are Tamani, Bad boy, Move on, Tahidi, Papii, Usiwe Mbali, etc
