Yola's full name is Yola Katiana Moreira de Araújo Bravo da Costa. Yola Araujo is an Angolan musician. Her type of music is called Kizomba, which is also similar to Zouk mixed with rhythm and blues.
She was formerly in the group called Melomanias, with Margareth do Rosário, and Djamila D’Elvis. The group was supposed to thrust them into the spotlight. She went solo and released a single called 'I Just Wanna I Love You' which was a huge success and became popular even outside her native Angola. She released her debut album, ‘Sensual’ later. It received rave reviews amongst Zouk and Kizomba lovers.
She followed it up with 'Um Pouco Diferente' in 2005. Her second album had major chart toppers like Quadradinha and which featured Angolan rapper, Heavy C. It featured different genres - R&B, Zouk, Kizomba, Reggae, among others. With this album, she crossed frontiers, from Lusophone Africa into the different countries where Portuguese wasn't a major language. She performed all over the world and drew up interest from many international record labels.
She spends a lot of time in Europe recording - including France and Holland. Her third album, called 'Diferente e Mais um Pouco' came out in 2007. She worked with Cape Verdean musicians Johnny Ramos, Nelson Freitas and Adilson, as well as Jerry Charbonnier and Gregory Custos. She also had duets with Cape Verdean legend Grace Évora, as well as Latino reggae star, Ashwin Jaydee and Warren.
She is married to Fredy Costa. They both enjoy watching basketball, which seems to be a bigger sport in Angola than football (soccer). She lives in the Angolan capital of Luanda.
Some of her songs are I just wanna love you, Só pra mim, Luanda Serena, I love you, Nao Me Importa, Quadradinha, Nao me importa, Panca, Nao Acredito, Da Manha, Estragaste, Amizade, etc
