    Zonke Dikana

Zonke is a South African musician and songwriter. Her music uses various styles like Afro-pop, house, folk music, etc.

She was born in Port Elizabeth (Kwazakhele) in the Eastern Cape. Her father was the drummer for Black Slave and the Flamingo and her late stepmother, Anneline Malebo, sang for the infamous Joy outfit of Paradise Road fame.

In 1996, she travelled to Johannesburg where she met music greats such as Chicco Twala and Caiphus Semenya. She was then introduced to Jazzkantine – a previously all-white German band which later became known as Culture Clan with the inclusion of Zonke and rappers Mandla and Mzo in 2003.

Her first solo album, Solitary, was recorded and released in Europe in 2004. Her most recent album, Life, Love ’n Music, was very successful and earned her many plaudits. She has also worked on Loyiso’s Wine, Women and Song album as well as on TK’s Black Butterfly CD.

She is produced by Kalawa Jazzmee Records.
