Road to the MAMA featured a number of concerts in the run-up to the first ever MTV African Music Awards ceremony on November 22, in Abuja, Nigeria. The All-star concert tour stopped in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), South Africa, Kenya and Nigeria.
On 11 November at the Halle de la Gombe in Kinshasa, the DRC capital, the tour kicked off. Performers were The Game (USA), Fally Ipupa (DRC) and other artists. Kenya had its turn at Nairobi's Bomas, on 15 November. The headliner was The Game (USA) as well, with other musicians like Tuface Idibia (Nigeria), East African Bashment Crew (Uganda and Kenya), Jua Cali (Kenya) and Wahu (Kenya) on the bill.
The South African concert on 13th November featured MAMA nominees HHP, Cassette, The Parlotones, and Loyiso, all from South Africa; The Game, from the United States; and Danny, from Zambia who performed at the Standard Bank Arena in Doornfontein, on the eastern edge of the city centre. The last stop was Planet One in Lagos, the Nigerian city, on 18 November where 9ice (Nigeria), D'Banj & Mo Hits All Stars (Nigeria), Naeto C (Nigeria), Samini (Ghana) joined The Game (USA) on the artiste bill.
