    Daasebre Kojo Gyamenah

Daasebre Kojo Gyamenah is a highlife musician from Ghana. He is popularly called 'Ahuofe' (meaning beauty or handsomeness) after one of his popular songs. He is a Muslim and his Islamic name is Abubakar Siddiq.

He became very popular for his debut hit, "Kokooko" (1999) which featured Lord Kenya. This song was the first major fusion of hiplife and highlife and helped launch both musicians' careers. Lord Kenya went on to be one of hiplife's flagbearers.

Daasebre's subsequent albums proved very successful and it is believed he owns the most Ghana music awards amongst all Ghanaian musicians.

In 2006, shortly after the World Cup, Daasebre was arrested in London over allegation of carrying cocaine. He was in prison and on trial till he was cleared of all wrongdoing in May 2007. Even while he was in detention, he released his 'A friend in need' album which has been ruling the Ghanaian airwaves.

He has been one of the consistent highlife hitmakers in the 21st century. Some of his popular songs are Seetei, Wafom, Ahuofe, How far, I beg, Woda a enda, Gyee libilibi, U can't touch me, Mensu mo bo, Dwankobia, Oba pa ye dwetee, Wakye, Enye aduro, Aniwuo, etc

More Daasebre songs coming up!
He's a free man now.
Story here

After months of undergoing trial for allegedly taking cocaine into London, he's been cleared of all wrongdoing.
Ghanaians are celebrating and as Mr. Ahoufe keeps on giving us good music, he'll deserve all the love. :-)

We thank God that Daasebre was freed of any wrongdoing. We love his music so much and it is an inspiration to us. We hope that other musicians would take a cue from this case and be careful

I heard Daasebre did courses in Computer Science and Maths while he was in prison in London. He may now be one of the smartest musicians in Ghana. we all know his lyrics are tight too but let's see what happens

Wow, the Brits don't take their correctional facilities lightly koraa. Good for Daasebre, hope he can use the skills to do other things.
He is definitely a great songwriter and that will ensure he continues to do well

The first time I heard he is in prison I was sorry because I know he is a great artist and I love his music. On the other hand I know that carrying cocaine is a serious thing and police could not ignore that. I hope he is clear now and I also hope that he "served" his time in drug rehab.

He has been cleared for awhile and making great music.
I dunno if he served time in drug rehab because he was never really on drugs.
