Bollie's 2004 hit was used as the theme song for Accra Hearts of Oak after they snatched the CAF cup from Kumasi Asante Kotoko, their bitterest rivals.
Hearts aka Phobia supporters replaced "bride" with "cup" in this song's chorus. Fuelled by this phenomenon, Bollie's single became a chart-topper and Hammer's Execution Diary sold many more copies as a result.
Hence, the football tag.
Accra Hearts of Oak just won the Ghanaian premier league once again and you can bet what song they've been singing.
:-)
What do you know? Bollie recently spoke out about this song. He says he sang about the "You may kiss the bride" because he realized the most interesting part of any wedding ceremony is where the priest or the pastors says the groom may kiss the bride.
He felt that the song would help preserve the marriage institution song to that effect it would go far. The song addresses the good and bad sides of marriage.
My friend told me the other day Bollie has become a big artiste in Nigerian circles and this particular song is popular among the Nigerian community in London. Maybe that 2007 Gbedu Awards Best Foreign Act Africa award he won in Nigeria has something to do with it.
this song is biggg, nice music from ghana
