Abrewa Nana

Tagged:

Abrewa Nana is known in real life as Dorcas Opoku Darkwah and is one of Ghana's premier female rappers and hiplife artistes. She is called Abrewa Nana because apparently she was named after her grandmother. Abrewa means 'grandmother' and 'nana' means grandchild - effectively tracing back to herself.

The trained accountant, dancer and singer was the first female to release a hiplife album. Sagaa was released in 2000 while African Girl and Maba followed in 2002 and 2005 respectively.

Abrewa Nana was one of the three judges for the popular (inaugural) West African Idol (by MNET). None of the contestants is really into rap but Dorcas did doing a good job.

Some of her songs are Piloloo, Sagaa, Odo filla, Trotro lover, African girl, Meda empam, Heater, Ahokyere, etc

look at the wonders that abrewa nana's stint as a judge on West Africa Idol is doing for her.
look at how the Nigeria guy is falling...
look at how she is looking so fly in the picture.
look, just look and watch out for her she will be coming back with a bang!

Abrewa Nana's music is good. Rightly stated, she is one of the female pioneers of Ghanain Hiplife.

She rocks, although she could do with some diversity to draw a wider audience. The youth of Ghana are changing (actually so is most of West Africa [to generalise], and are more inclined to prefer 'Western Culture' influenced tunes.

Big up Abrewa Nana, digg her style and originaltity.

Unfortunitly success does come with ticking boxes.

Hey Prince, so I doubt Abrewa Nana is the queen of Ghanaian highlife music but she's one of the most popular female artistes in Ghana.
Will stay in touch when I hear from Abrewa Nana's camp.
