Inspirational Youth Choir (KNUST)

Tagged:

Inspirational Youth Choir was born in 1993 with a membership of six. These were some young daughters of the Neequaye-Tetteh, Fokuo and Ofori families of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana. After having several names, they settled for Inspirational Youngsters. The size of the choir increased with time, with other youngsters, mostly of the children of other lecturers of the university and later from all over Kumasi joining in.

For many years, the choir had its annual PRAISE programme during which they ministered in songs. As the members grew older, Youngsters no longer suited the choir and so had its name changed yet again to Inspirational Youth Choir.

Thirteen years down the line, the choir has a membership of over 50 youth from various parts of Ghana and has an album 'Me Nnsuro' (I won't fear) to her credit. The choir is now part of a larger ministry, Inspirational Youth Ministry, which comprises of the youth choir - Inspirational Youth Choir, a children's choir - the rebirth of Inspirational Youngsters, a social wing and a drama wing "God's Elect".

For about five years, the choir and the soucial wing of the ministry have worked with the Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG) on their country programmes to help curb the HIV/AIDS pandemic. In conjuction with the PPAG, the choir has come out with two songs 'AIDS is real' and 'Young and Wise' to increase the awareness of the deadly disease and to incite the youth to abstain from pre-marital sex.

Wow, Inspira has become famous. I know these kids from Tech (KNUST). Seems they are doing well, their directors have been doing a yeoman's job. I was so excited to see them on TV for their Young and wise video. Great job!
