Champion no easy! You for make training hard!
The 8th Ghana Music Awards came off last night to great splendor, entertainment and excitement. This was the first time in years one artiste did not win more than 3 awards. I personally enjoy this fact because I cannot see how in the present day with the breadth and depth of great Ghanaian music, one musician can hold an awards ceremony hostage. Batman Samini deservedly won the artiste of the year but was King Ayisoba's I want to see you my father really the most popular song of the year?

I want to see you my father was the most talked about - is that popularity? I don't think so. Nothing against the kologo man, but I really think this award should have been pocketed by Emmanuella, Esikyire or Heavy. Can someone help explain what the record of the year award won by Samini for Samini is about? I think Samini, which also beat out Kangaroo for African pop song of the year, was a beautiful song and should have been a top draw/listen on the African continent. I'm still very mad Samini never made a video for that song. :( Samini has to get hooked to some serious distribution channels because he can rival many international artistes. Samini fans, the onus is on your shoulders. :-)Obrafour beat out Wutah to win hiplife artiste of the year and I can't really complain. It's just sad to see Wutah miss out on an award this year. Praye for hiplife album of the year? Now that's a shocker. Praye's album took a long time to become popular (November thereabouts) so it makes me wonder what the calendar year for the GMA's is. Ofori Amponsah and the Onyame Aseda man, Kwaku Gyasi, rightly swept the highlife and gospel awards.
Can somebody help me out with the criteria for voices/vocal performances of the year? Kwaisey Pee and Christiana Love take the bragging rights for a year. Since when did Ofori Amponsah become a producer? I thought someone else was in charge of Foreez WestSide? I think P-Square deserved Africa's best over D'banj (yes, it's the Nigerian proximity virus here).
I never saw this one coming - Obrafour and Kofi B with the best collaboration award for Heavy. Abraham Ohene Djan directed the video for the song which took home the best video award. But who else thinks this video by Phamous People was better? Kwaadee has officially taken the mantle of best songwriter from the Rap Sofour as well.
Congratulations to all the winners.
PS: It's my space buddies, am allowed to ask questions and wonder aloud. Like Reggie said, I speak my mind and keep my mind spoken. Maybe you should speak yours too.
