Ayetoro - Afrobeat musicians

Ayetoro Funsho Ogundipe Afrobeat Panji Anoff Pidgen MusicI interviewed Wanlov da Kuborlor, a Ghanaian musician recently and one of the African musicians, he said he admired was Ayetoro (actual name is Funsho Ogundipe, Ayetoro is the band/music). He called him a step ahead of Fela. Every Nigerian and their father is in love with Fela Kuti's music so for anyone to say anyone is a step ahead of Fela is a very bold statement.
These were Wanlov's words - "He has all world class musicians in his band, he never plays anything he has recorded, creates new songs for his shows, records them at the show and never plays them again." I want to find out about that too.

I just wanna feel good everyday
I wanna wear smile upon my face
I wanna feel the joys of the day
I wanna feel alight in every moment
Said I won't wast time on feeling blue
I won't waste time on things I cannot change
I'm gonna live these days as best as I can
Doing everything that feels right

Singing la la la la lala la la...

I wanna hear the laughter of a child
I wanna feel the hug from a loving friend
I wanna hear "I love you" every now and then
I wanna show somebody that I care
'Cause feeling good is a choice that we all make
Just like a smile is a small effort you make

New CD - Gift Musarurwa

EPITOMY
Germany-based Gift Musarurwa and Robert Ketchum have not only achieved musical unity between them and with their excursions to Music roots, bringing the music from different eras plus the cross fertilisation which has taken place in contemporary music into one act. They have drawn together people of all the cultures of the rainbow, the young and the old and wooed even the most shy to the dance floor whenever they belt out their tunes to packed houses.

It is the EPITOMY of the Melting Pot - a point of convergence of cultures and music. Their extraordinary historical raportoir is so full of goodies that you can start anywhere and go in any direction with it because it is so entrancing.
That takes the kind of LOVE that music brings out quicker than any other art-form.
Robert Ketchum’s debut was at the tender age of 10 as a member of the Pop band "The Kids" in San Antonio, Texas. Perhaps no surprise as his Father was a Renowned Blues Musician. He also joined a Mexican folk-group and celebrated the "Mexican Mariachi" wearing an original sombrero!

13th Annual MTN South African Music Awards

It's 6 days, 21 hours, 40 minutes and about 38 seconds :-) until South Africa once again puts on the annual glamorous award show at Sun City to honor South African, Swazi, Tswana and Sotho musicians that have excelled, to say the least, in their respective genres, and have made a significant contribution to the South(ern) African entertainment industry.

I, for one, am an angered woman because it seems I will always miss the opportunity to go to this event. I am wondering why it is never held during the festive season? Actually, the best albums are usually released during this season, so by the time the awards come, they have enjoyed their mass airplay on YFm, Metro FM, Kaya FM, Ikhwezi FM and others, as well as had their share of dancefloor madness. You can find all these radio stations online, just let google do the work for you :-)

Verse
Take me to the place
Where the river, river runs wild
To the place
A place with fruit or lie?
This place in my dreams
This place is in my head all day
River, river runs wild

Take me to the place
Where the grass is green all year
To the place
Where the bees never sting

This place in my dreams
This place is in my head all day
Where the grass is green all year

Chorus
Ndawo yami (4x)
Ndawo yami (3x), hey hey
