Does anyone know where we can see Akon's Mama Africa video? Because according to this news and that news, a video was shot. The video was shot by Gil Green on location in various African countries in October 2006. Either way many fans of Akon's Mama Africa have made videos and the most popular one is posted below. Museke: Can you tell us about your background and family?
Youssoupha: My grand-father was from the Wassulu tribe of Mali, he immigrated to Senegal, and started a family. I was born in Dakar the capital of Senegal, in a Family of 8 children.

Viviane Ndour (nee Chichid) is often referred to as the Queen of Mbalax. Mbalax is a Senegalese music genre. She is well known for her blends of Mbalax, R&B, pop and hip hop. She is a Kora nominated artiste who has toured worldwide. She recently featured on Mokobe's hit called Safari.

    Maam Waali Dione

3GGA is a Senegalese rapper and beat maker. His real name is Maam Waali Dione, and he was born in Cologne in Germany. He joined his family in the United States and in England where he improved his English.

At 15 years, for family reasons, he left for his country of origin, Senegal and that's where he learnt the Wolof and French. He learnt karate, he is a C Shotokan style. He also played basketball for 6 years in Senegalese Basketball Division 1 with Diarraf club. He also studied music in the university.

IN 1998, 3GGA formed Degg Dadj Sound Records in the suburbs of Dakar.

3GGA de son vrai nom Maam Waali Dione est née à Cologne en Allemagne. Il rejoint sa famille aux Etats Unis et en Angleterre ou il y perfectionne son Anglais.
A 15 ans, pour des raisons familiales, il part vivre dans son pays d’origine le Sénégal ou il y apprend le woolof et le Français.

Il évolue entre le sport (Haut gradé en karaté – DO style Shotokan et licensié pendant 6 ans en D1 de la ligue du Basketball Sénégalais au sein du
Club Diarraf ), les études ( bac+ 2 ans d’universitée) et la musique
(il devient autodidacte grâce cesfréquentations dans le milieu des studios et du spectacle.)

From Calabash Music. Our friends at Nomadic Wax are in Senegal this month producing a unique documentary film, called 'African Underground: Democracy in Dakar', showing how local hip-hop is shaping the current Presidential Election. Each week they are sending back 5-10 minute video segments. This "real-time" documentary style allows for immediate discussion of music and politics in Senegal. Upon their return, these segments will be made into a full length documentary.
