K'Naan and his collaborations

K'Naan has done a lot of collaborations. These include Mos Def, DeaD prez and Damian Marley on his Welcome to Jamrock tour session. He also collaborated with a certain Swahili rapper on one of my favorite songs, the African Way.

A lot of these musicians are cast in the conscious hip hop mold. He's breaking out and it would do justice for publicizing his music more. That's why I was excited to find out about this collaboration he did with Nelly Furtado.
Check out this video of a studio performace on "Going Away" with one of the hottest musicians today, Nelly Furtado

Verse 1
So good things come to those who wait
Sure
I've waited about - pop, pop, pop, pop
That's four cousins shot!
I got grudges, let's discuss this
My music needs no touch ups
I got a long record of fuck ups, trust me
You don't know a past as weird as mine
Or a life as hard as mine
I had to hustle, chop, sell drugs, grind
Whatever you want to call it is fine, but just listen
And don't prejudge
I don't want anyone dissmissing me as another thug or some shit like that
No sir, if I fall I will get right back
I got circumstances, but let me stop dancing around the

Verse 1
It's like writing to the dead
Dear people, i dont know if youll hear my last plea
But somebody needs to be concerned about me
It's like im standing on the edge of a high tower by kanie
Y'all are rootin me to jump, nobody stopping me
It's like a drug filled rock n roll documentary
Just wait till the world knows what's inside of me
Cuz you'll be sorry when im gone
and I'll be gone so very soon
f the pressure on my diaphragm keeps resisting
If the feds keep my brothers stomping up and down prisons
If you cant understand my offerings and deep mission
No label

Poison in my veins, inside I'm torturing my brains
And still I try, ai ai ai
Voices in my head, am I alive or am I dead
Alone I cry, ai ai ai

Verse 1
Consider, configure the shit that I'm in
And the pain, I'm literally going insane
I'm frightened, my heart and my head and I've been fighting
I'm certain, it's hurting the rest of my body
Them voices are loud as Manhattan come from chatting
They say, Anderson let us
And they know you better than all these
Replicates screaming they represent

When you here in the water and you feel like its order
Releasing your tension the stress and disorder Is big in America
Stephanie, Erica, both of them suffer from livin in hari cuz
Livin is very competitive
Hassling creditors, hazardous accidents
Driving with negligence
Too many beverages, people got to many things on they letters
Says Tv's deadliest, professing the ugliest
War, war, war, war
What the hell you keep on killing me for
Please won't you come and bend down low
Let me tell you what little I know
And if its worth something
Spread it indeed like

Verse 1
I put a pen to the paper
This time as visual as possible
Guns blast at the hospital
The walls are whitewashed with tin roof tops to show love
You lick two shots, it's dangerous man
Journalists hire gunmen that's violent with me,
Kids trust no one cuz fire burn them
Refugees die in boats headed for peace
Is anyone scared of death here?

He can’t shoot and he can't go run them out

Intro
Yeah, yeah, it's me, struggling

Verse 1
I start out, just to vibe out
I ain't about to bow out
I'm more gangsta than you are but I ain't about the rau rau
My season will come, it has to
Honestly I feel like I'm ten months pregnant or something
I am past due
Sincerely I'm touchy these days I can't take nothing
I'm tryna treat my record like the law shit
I'm dying to break something
And mostly, I'm up and stressing, when other folks sleep
Believe me, I know struggle, and struggle knows me
My life owes me, like an overdose I'm slowly

Verse 1
My tragedy’s different
My life’s deep, listen,
Gotta bail, I’m limping
Walked outta hell’s kitchen
Why bother cherishing
My past is everything, wrong, and my arrogance
Walked down the stairs pissing
Cop us cuz they’re bitching
life isnt fair, singing
Blues and my rap dripping
Ooze out the blood sinking
Deep down to earth thinking
Leave out a nerp chicken
I should run, forfeit, and everything I know
Listen

I was
The misdirected
I was
The least expected
Hop on
